Sijiagou
The village "Sijiagou" is located in one of the remotest parts of China, far from the big cities of the “new China”. In this village, as well as in the villages around it, time seems to have stood still. Centuries-old ways of life have been preserved there. The rugged landscape of loess hills, the change of seasons and hard physical work still determine everyday life, just like they always have.
„Sijiagou“ is a portrait of a vanishing region wich stays unimpressed by the rapid development of the contemporary China- somewhere between past and timelessness. The children leave the villages in search of work in the cities and more comfortable living conditions. What remains are the elderly who do not want to part with their land and their lifestyle habits.
